Madhuraj Building Material

Our business is located in the village of Bastihalli, which is part of the Shantigrama Hobly area. It is a quiet place for the most part, at least until the tractors and supply trucks start coming through. We handle various building materials and it is a very physical job that keeps us moving from morning until night. The yard is surrounded by green fields, but our specific plot of land is just gravel and tall stacks of supplies. We get plenty of local farmers and builders stopping by from around the taluka. Since everyone knows everyone else in the village, there is a lot of talking that happens before we actually get down to business. The sun can be quite punishing in Bastihalli and there isn't much shade available besides our small office shed. Inside that shed, it is just a simple table and some chairs covered in a layer of dust. We don’t bother with any uniforms or fancy clothes here. We just wear whatever is sturdy enough for moving heavy bricks and bags of material. Sometimes the deliveries show up late because the village roads are so narrow and difficult to navigate. It is a much slower pace of life than what you find in the city. We like it that way. Most of our time is spent checking the inventory or helping someone load their vehicle. It is a straightforward way to spend the day in the village.
