If you ever find yourself in Vallampally, over in the Medpalli area of Karim Nagar, you might pass by house number 4-94. That’s where we run Umamaheswara Madipally Farmers Producer Company Limited. It’s a long name for what is essentially a group of local people trying to coordinate their harvests. Karim Nagar has a lot of history with farming, and we’re just another part of that. We aren't a big city corporation. We’re just folks who know the soil around here. Managing a producer company is a lot of paperwork, which none of us really like, but it helps us sell what we grow more easily. We deal with all sorts of local crops. Sometimes the prices are good, sometimes they’re terrible, but we keep going. Our office is just a regular house where we meet up to discuss things. You won't find any receptionists or flashy signs. Just some chairs and maybe a tea if someone brought some. It's about helping each other out so we don't get lost in the shuffle of the bigger markets. We’ve had some tough years recently, but being together as a company makes it a bit more manageable. We just want to keep the farms running and make sure our families are taken care of without too much stress from the outside world. It is hard work but someone has to do it.
