Swastik Rice Mill

Our place, Swastik Rice Mill, is situated right near the Gandhi Statue. If you are walking down Agrasen Bhawan Road, you can’t really miss us. It’s a busy little area with a lot of people moving around all the time. We start pretty early in the morning before the sun gets too hot. Dealing with rice means a lot of heavy lifting and keeping an eye on the dryers. It’s not a glamorous job but it is what we do. The road outside can get a bit crowded with trucks and carts, especially during the peak season. We’ve been at this location for some time now. Sometimes the machinery acts up and we have to spend the afternoon fixing things instead of milling. That’s just part of the routine here. We aren't some big corporation with fancy offices. Most of the time I’m just in my work clothes helping the guys move the sacks. We try to keep things organized but it gets messy when there is a lot of grain coming in. The statue is a good landmark for people trying to find us for the first time. We just focus on the work at hand and try to stay busy. It’s a local operation and we know most of the neighbors. No big secrets here, just a lot of hard work on Agrasen Bhawan Road. We stay open until the last truck is gone, which is usually around sunset or a bit later.
