Mahavir Trading Company

Our shop is right in Dal Bazar in the Lashkar area, which is always a bit of a squeeze. If you know the market, you know it’s packed with people and carts every single day. Mahavir Trading Company has been here for years, tucked into the middle of all the noise. We open up early because that’s when the first customers start showing up. The space isn’t huge, but we make use of every inch of the shelves. There is always someone coming in to ask about prices or just to chat for a minute. Trading is mostly about keeping track of what’s coming in and what’s going out. We do a lot of writing in ledgers and checking the stock. The air in Lashkar is always full of different smells from the market. We don’t have any fancy signs or air conditioning that works all that well. It’s just a regular trading spot. Some days are slow and we just sit by the front door watching the crowds. Other days are so busy we don’t even have time to finish a cup of tea before it gets cold. We’ve known the neighbors for a long time, so it feels like a little community. We just try to keep things organized and get the orders out on time without too much fuss. It is a lot of back and forth, but that is just how the trading business goes in a place like this.
