Bhushan Steel Limited, Orissa

Working for Bhushan Steel out of Gwalior while having the Orissa name on the door is a bit of a mix-up for some, but it makes sense to us. We’ve been settled here for a while now. Gwalior is a good place to be, even if the work itself is connected to the heavy industry out in Orissa. We deal with a lot of the back-end stuff that keeps the plants running. You might think steel is all about fire and giant machines, and a lot of it is, but someone has to stay behind and make sure the details are sorted. Our office isn't anything special to look at. It's just a place where we come every morning to handle the files and talk to the guys on the ground. We have a few old desks and the usual office supplies that always seem to run out at the wrong time. The summer heat here can get pretty bad, and that makes everyone a bit slower, but the work doesn't stop. We’ve seen the industry change over the years, though the basics of steel stay the same. It’s tough, it’s heavy, and it’s needed everywhere. We don't spend time worrying about fancy slogans. We just want to make sure the orders are correct and the people in Orissa have what they need to keep the furnaces going. It's just honest work in a regular city with a bunch of decent people.
