We are up on the second floor of the Assam Paryatan Bhawan. It’s a bit of a walk up if the lift is slow, which it often is during the lunch hour. Red River Tours And Travels is basically just a few desks and a lot of maps pinned to the walls with some old tape. We spend most of our time on the phone or looking at train and bus schedules for people. It gets noisy in the building during the afternoons when everyone is moving about. We handle the bookings for people going in and out of the area. It’s not a glamorous job, mostly just checking dates and prices over and over. Sometimes the internet goes down and we have to wait it out with a cup of tea. We’ve been at this address for some time now. People find us because they know the Bhawan well. We don't have fancy brochures, just some printouts and a stapler that always seems to jam. The office is tucked away, so you really have to look for the door on the second floor. It’s a practical setup. We know the routes around here pretty well because we’ve lived here. It’s just us working through the piles of papers every day. The view from the window isn't much, just the street and some trees below. We keep the kettle going for tea throughout the day. It’s a standard office life for us, nothing flashy or corporate. We just do the paperwork.
