Yogendra Kumar

Our place, Yogendra Kumar, is tucked away in Laxman Vihar Phase-II in Gurgaon. Specifically, we are at number 555/31. This isn't the shiny, glass-covered part of Gurgaon you see in movies. This is a more grounded, local area. The roads can be a bit bumpy and the buildings are close together. We’ve been working from here for a good while. It’s a small space, just enough for what we need to get through the day. We don't have a lot of visitors, so we don't worry about how the place looks too much. There are always boxes stacked in the corner and cables running across the floor. It’s a working office, not a showroom. Living and working in Laxman Vihar means you get to know the local shopkeepers and the guy who brings the water. It’s a tight-knit kind of place. We don't really have a management structure. We just decide what needs to happen and then someone does it. It’s very informal. Sometimes the neighbor’s dog won't stop barking, but you just learn to tune it out. We like the independence of running things this way. No one is looking over our shoulders. We just try to stay on top of things and keep our heads down. It’s a simple operation, and that’s fine by us. There's usually a lot of noise from the street, but it feels like home to us now. We just get on with it.
