Walkin Style

Our shop is B 245 in Super Mart One, which is part of Phase Iv in DLF City. It’s a modern building, so things are a bit cleaner here than in the old markets. We deal mostly in footwear and some clothing. I spend a lot of my time making sure the shoes are lined up straight on the glass shelves. It’s a small space, so if three or four people come in at once, it feels quite full. The floor is tiled and I have to mop it every morning because of the footprints. We have a big mirror at the back so people can see how the shoes look. DLF City is a busy area, but Super Mart One has its own rhythm. Usually, it’s quiet in the mornings and picks up after office hours. We don't have a loud music system or anything, just a small radio in the corner. I’ve been working here for a while now and I’ve seen a lot of different styles come and go. Sometimes people just come in to browse while they wait for their friends at the cafe nearby. We don't mind. We keep a notebook for the inventory instead of a fancy computer. It’s easier for me to track what we’ve sold that way. It’s a straightforward job and the location is good for meeting people. We just stay open until the mall starts to quiet down.
