You can find us inside Sapphire Mall, which is at Shop No. 231. This is right on the Sohna Road in Gurgaon, specifically Sector 49. Being in a mall means there is always a lot of air conditioning and the sound of people walking past the glass front. It’s a bit different from a street-side clinic. We have the booths set up for hearing tests and the rooms for speech work. The mall gets quite busy on the weekends, but during the weekday mornings, it’s actually pretty peaceful here. We have a lot of equipment for checking ears and testing how people hear different sounds. It’s a lot of sitting in quiet rooms and wearing headphones. The staff usually eats lunch in the small back room or goes down to the food court if we have time. We see children and older people mostly. Some of the kids get a bit restless during the tests, so we have some toys scattered around to keep them busy. Sector 49 is a growing part of the city, and there are always new buildings going up around the mall. We’ve been in this shop for a while now, and we know the security guards and the other shop owners on the second floor. It’s a straightforward business. We show up, open the shutters, and start the day’s appointments. The lights in the mall stay on late, but we usually head home once the last patient is finished. It is just how our routine goes.
