About Sangam Sweets – Food & Beverages in Gurugram
Rana Market is a busy place and we’ve been part of it for a good bit of time. Being in Palam Vihar means we see all sorts of people walking by all day long. Sangam Sweets is just a small shop, really. We spend our mornings getting the milk delivered and starting on the batches of sweets. The smell of sugar and ghee is something you just get used to after a few years of working here. It’s a family-run kind of thing, so there’s always someone around to help out when things get hectic. We don't have a big seating area, most people just grab a box and go home. During the festivals, it gets really chaotic in here. We have to bring in extra hands just to keep up with the boxes and the weighing scales. The floor gets a bit sticky sometimes when we're busy, but we clean it as soon as we can get a break. We try to keep the glass cases clean so you can see what’s fresh today. It’s not a corporate chain, so things are a bit loose and informal. Sometimes we run out of certain things by the evening if it's been a busy day. We just make what we can and sell it until it's gone. It’s a simple way to make a living. The market noise is constant, but you stop hearing it after a while. We’re just here every day, opening the shutters.
