You can find our workplace right near the Girl Senior Secondary School in Farrukh Nagar. We are also very close to the Old Ramlila Ground, which is a major landmark in this part of town. Our building is always filled with the strong smell of different spices like turmeric and red chili. We spend most of our hours grinding and packing masalas for the local market. It is a dusty job, and we usually end up with spice powder on our clothes by the time we head home. The area around the school is always busy, especially when classes let out and the street fills up with students and rickshaws. We have a simple setup with a few heavy machines and a lot of large sacks piled up in the corners. It is a family-run business, so there is no formal dress code or corporate rules. We just focus on getting the work done and making sure the batches are right. Sometimes the machinery breaks down and we have to spend half the day fixing it ourselves. The floor is made of concrete and shows a lot of wear from moving heavy bags around. We do not have a fancy front office for customers. People who want to buy from us usually just come to the side door and talk to whoever is free. It is a noisy, busy place but we like the routine of it all. We have been in this same spot for years.
