Spice Hotspot

The Vyapar Kendra in Bajghera is a loud place and our shop is at 87/88. It's a small space packed with phone boxes and chargers. You can barely move when three people are inside at once. We spend the morning cleaning the glass counters because they get dusty fast with all the foot traffic outside. People stop by to ask about data plans or to get a new SIM card for their phones. Most of the time they just want a cheap case. We have a wall full of them in different colors. The fan overhead wobbles a bit and we’ve been meaning to fix it for weeks. There’s a stack of old magazines in the corner for people waiting but not many wait very long. It's a quick in-and-out kind of place. Sometimes we have to explain why a certain phone isn't in stock. The deliveries are sometimes late and we just tell people the truth. No point in making things up. The market has its own rhythm and we just go with it. Lunch is usually something quick from the stall next door. By the afternoon the sun hits the front window and it gets warm. We just keep the door open to get some air from the corridor. It’s just a regular day at the hotspot for us. It gets dark early in the winter but the market stays lit up.
