Our workshop is over on Khandsa Road in Kamla Nehru Market, specifically at unit number 48. We have been working with transformers here for a long time. It is a dusty place because of all the heavy equipment and the constant traffic on the main road outside. Most of the day is spent with tools in our hands, taking things apart or winding new copper coils. It is definitely not a clean office job. There is oil on the floor sometimes and the smell of metal and insulation is always hanging around the shop. We handle repairs for local businesses and sometimes bigger units that get brought in on the back of trucks. The market is always crowded, so getting stuff in and out can be a bit of a headache with the narrow lanes. We have a few guys here who have been doing this kind of manual work for years. We do not have a fancy reception area or a desk for visitors. If you come by, you will probably find us in the back working on a unit. We use old benches and some heavy-duty testers to check the parts. It is very straightforward work. If a transformer blows out, people bring it here and we see if it can be fixed or if it is a total loss. Sometimes it takes a few days if we need to find specific wire sizes. We just focus on the job at hand. The noise from the street is constant, but we just focus on the humming of the machines.
