Working inside the Gold Souk Mall at Sushant Lok is a bit different than being on a regular street. We are at unit number 9. The air conditioning is always on, which is nice during the hot summer months in Udyog Vihar when the outside air is thick. Usually, we get in early to beat the mall crowds and start setting up the displays. It takes a bit of time to get everything out of the safe and into the right spots. We see a lot of people walking past on their way to other shops, but we have our own steady group of clients who know where to find us in Phase I. Being a Pvt Ltd company sounds fancy on paper, but really it's just a few of us here doing the daily tasks like counting stock or answering the phone. We deal with gems and various kinds of ornaments. Some days are slow and we just chat amongst ourselves about local news or what we’re having for lunch from the food court. Other days, it gets hectic when several families come in at once looking for something specific for a gift. We don't use a lot of big words or try to push people into buying things they don't really want. It’s more about just showing what we have in the drawers and letting people decide for themselves. The mall environment can be a bit sterile with all the white lights, so we try to keep our little corner feeling a bit more personal. It's just a job like any other.
