Export House

Our office for Export House is located on the second floor of Flat No. R-16 in Uppal Southend, Gurgaon. It’s a residential area, so it’s a bit different from the huge glass towers you usually see around this city. Being on the second floor means we get a bit of a workout every day since we are constantly going up and down. The space is basically a converted flat, which gives us a kitchen for making our own lunch and a balcony where we sometimes take breaks. Gurgaon can get incredibly hot, so we usually keep the curtains drawn during the afternoon. Most of our day is spent dealing with paperwork and coordinating with transport companies. We handle exports, which means there is always a lot of tracking to do and phone calls to make to different ports. It’s not glamorous work, but it keeps us busy from morning until evening. We’ve got desks squeezed into what used to be the living room and bedrooms. You’ll see files stacked up everywhere because we haven’t quite figured out a better filing system yet. The neighbors are mostly families, so we try to keep the noise down when we are moving boxes out. It’s a simple setup that works for us. We don't have a big corporate structure; it's just a few of us making sure everything is shipped out as it should be.
