If you go down to the New Anaj Mandi in Sohna, that is where you will find us. We are right in the middle of all the grain trading action. The place is massive and filled with these huge piles of wheat and mustard seeds, depending on what the season is. We spend our days dealing with farmers who bring their produce in on tractors and trolleys. There is a lot of dust in the air from the grain, and the sound of the auctions is always going on in the background. Our office is just a simple room with some old wooden desks and registers where we keep track of the bags. We have to be careful with the moisture levels in the crops, so we are often out there poking at the piles to check them. When the harvest is in, the Mandi gets so busy you can hardly move, with laborers carrying heavy jute bags on their backs all day long. We usually have a big pot of tea going for anyone who stops by to talk about the market prices. It is a rugged environment, especially when it rains and we have to rush to cover everything with tarpaulins. It is just the way things are done out here in Sohna, and we have been part of it for a while now. We just handle the grain and keep the records straight.
