Vidya Bhavan Public School

Vidya Bhavan Public School sits right on Fatehgarh Road here in Guna. If you pass by in the morning, you’ll hear the bell ringing and the sound of kids shouting in the playground. It’s a big building with plenty of windows, though some of them are a bit stiff to open. We’ve been here a while, and the neighborhood knows us well. The hallways are usually filled with the smell of floor cleaner and old wood. We have a staff room where we sit and grade papers while drinking tea. It’s a bit messy in there, mostly because of all the folders piled up on the desks. The kids wear their uniforms, and by the end of the day, they usually have dirt on their knees from playing outside. We have a small garden area that we try to keep green, but the heat in Guna makes it hard. The classrooms have the usual benches and blackboards. Some of the fans squeak when they are on high speed. We don't have fancy decorations, just some student drawings taped to the walls. It feels like a second home to many of us who work here. We just follow the school calendar and try to stay on top of the lessons. When the final bell rings at three, there's a huge rush for the gates. Then it gets quiet until the next morning starts it all again.
