About Kitchen Shift Incharge – Tourism in Gulbarga
I spend most of my time at the Narayanappa Building. It’s right on the road adjacent to the police station in Devana Halli. Being in Bengaluru, you already know the traffic is something we deal with every day. I’m the kitchen shift incharge here. It’s a lot of manual work. I’m usually there before the sun comes up to get things ready for the day. The building isn't very old but it’s seen a lot of use. The kitchen is the heart of what we do. It’s loud, it’s hot, and there is always someone shouting an order or moving a heavy pot. We don't have a corporate office with air conditioning. My office is basically a small table in the corner of the kitchen where I keep the logs. Devana Halli is a busy area, especially with the police station being right there. There are always people coming and going. We just focus on the food and making sure the staff knows what they are doing for their shift. Sentence lengths vary because sometimes I’m too busy to talk much. We don't have a mission statement on the wall. We just have a list of what needs to be cooked. It’s practical work for people who don’t mind getting their hands dirty. The commute through Bengaluru is the hardest part of the day, but once I’m at the Narayanappa Building, I just get into the rhythm.
