Shekhar Spices Limited

We are located in Ward No-64 in the Sahabganj area, right near Lal Diggi. If you are walking near the Gita Press, you can probably smell the spices from our place before you even see the sign for Shekhar Spices Limited. It’s a very old part of town, and the streets are quite narrow, so getting the big sacks of spice in and out is always an adventure. We’ve been here for a long time, and the building itself has a lot of history. There are layers of dust and the smell of cardamom and cumin in the walls. We don't have a big modern factory. Instead, we have a series of rooms where we do the grinding and the packing. It’s a noisy process, and the machines are old, but they still work well enough for us. My father and his brothers ran the place before me, and now it’s my turn to look after things. We don't have a fancy marketing plan. We just rely on the fact that people know our name in this neighborhood. We spend a lot of time talking to the regular customers who come by for just a small bag of something. It’s a busy life, and there’s always something that needs fixing or cleaning. We are just a local business trying to keep the tradition going in this corner of Sahabganj. It’s hard work, but we wouldn't know what else to do. There is no place else we would rather be at the end of the long day.
