I’ve been working as Neeraj Tour & Travels Agent here in Gorakhpur for quite some time. My office is right in the heart of the 273001 zip code area, which is usually buzzing with activity. It’s just me and a couple of others helping people figure out where they need to go. Travel can be a bit of a headache with all the bookings and changes, so I try to keep things straightforward for anyone who walks in. I don’t use any of those big fancy websites for everything; I still like talking to people face-to-face to understand what they actually need for their trip. Some days I’m just sitting here on the phone for hours, and other days I’m out meeting drivers. Gorakhpur is a hub for a lot of travelers, so there’s never really a dull moment. I don’t have a big mission statement or a polished brochure to show you. It’s just a small desk, a computer that’s a bit slow sometimes, and a lot of notebooks filled with dates and phone numbers. People come to me because they want someone local who knows the routes and won’t give them the runaround. It’s a practical way to earn a living, and I enjoy hearing stories from people returning from their vacations. If you see me around, I’m probably just checking on a booking or grabbing a quick chai before the next customer arrives.
