Mangalam Travel House

Our little office is right on Geeta Press Road, which is almost always crowded with people. We are near the Gita Press building, so there is always a lot of activity outside our door in Gorakhpur. Being close to Kali Mandir means we hear the temple sounds throughout the day, which is actually quite nice when things get stressful. Reti Chowk is just around the corner, so the traffic can be a real headache sometimes, but that’s just how it is in this part of town. Mangalam Travel House isn't a big corporate place with shiny floors. We have some old desks and a few chairs for people to sit while we talk about their trips. The walls could probably use a new coat of paint, but we haven't gotten around to it yet. We spend most of our mornings drinking tea and checking the books before the first customers show up. It is a local business, run by local people who have lived here forever. We know the shortcuts to avoid the Reti Chowk mess when we need to get somewhere fast. It's dusty and loud outside, but inside we just try to keep things moving. We don't have any fancy mission statements or anything like that. We just come in, open the shutters, and see who needs help with their travel plans for the day. It’s a simple way to make a living and we have been here for years.
