Khan Plastic

Khan Plastic is situated on Jama Masjid Road. We are right in the Katra area, very close to the Jama Masjid. It is an old part of the city, very crowded and full of life. You can hear the prayers five times a day which gives a rhythm to our work. We deal with all sorts of plastic goods. Our shop is small, but we pack a lot into it. There is barely enough room to walk sometimes because of the bags and containers piled up to the ceiling. We have been here for years. My father worked this same spot before I took over. It is a dusty road and there are always carts passing by. We don't have air conditioning, just a ceiling fan that wobbles a bit and makes a clicking sound. People come from all over the neighborhood to buy what they need for their homes or shops. We aren't trying to be the biggest shop on the block, just trying to get through the day's work. It gets very busy on market days. Sometimes we have to move stuff out onto the pavement just to make space inside for customers to stand. We drink a lot of tea while we wait for the next delivery. It is a simple life in Katra. The street is narrow, so big vehicles can't really come through. We use small rickshaws to move our goods. It works for us and we are used to the squeeze. We know the people around here and they know us well.
