Kathmandu Travel

Kathmandu Travel has been operating out of the ground floor of Gupta Hotel for a while now. We are right on Station Road in Gorakhpur, basically directly in front of Gate No 3 of the railway station. You really can’t miss us if you’re coming out of that exit. Being so close to the tracks means we see everyone. It’s a noisy spot, but very convenient for anyone who needs to head towards Nepal or other places. The office isn't very big, but it stays busy because of where we are. We do a lot of the cross-border stuff, which involves a lot of paperwork and knowing the right people to call. It’s not always easy work, especially when the border gets crowded, but we’ve been doing it long enough to stay calm. We aren't trying to be the biggest agency in town, just the one that’s easy to find when you're carrying heavy luggage. The hotel upstairs brings in a lot of guests who end up chatting with us about their travel plans over a cup of tea. We don’t use fancy slogans. We just tell people which bus is leaving when and what the fare is. It’s practical, everyday stuff. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to do things by hand, but that’s just how it goes here. We’re just here at the gate, waiting for the next train and helping people.
