Shivam Cement Products

Shivam Cement Products is located out on Plot No. A-11 in the M.I.D.C. area near Tumkheda. If you’re driving down the Gondia Fulcure Road, you’ll see our yard full of grey stacks. We make all sorts of cement things like bricks, poles, and those rings for wells. It is a noisy place because the mixers are always running and the workers are constantly moving heavy stuff around. The sun beats down on the yard all day, making the concrete cure. I spend most of my time checking the molds and making sure the mix is right, otherwise, things crack and that's just a waste of material. We aren't some massive factory with robots; it’s mostly just hard manual labor and a few machines that have seen better days. Customers come from the nearby villages and some from Gondia town when they have a big project. Sometimes the trucks get stuck if it rains too hard because the ground gets muddy around the village side. We don't really do much advertising, word of mouth is usually enough to keep the orders coming in. We just focus on getting the blocks out of the yard so there’s room for the next batch. It’s messy work, your clothes stay covered in white dust all the time, but it’s what we do here in Tumkheda. We just try to keep things moving and get the orders delivered on time.
