Sounu Kirana Store

Being located near the Hanuman Mandir and the Sabzi Mandi means that Sounu Kirana Store is always surrounded by a lot of noise and activity. In the early morning hours, the sounds of the temple bells and the vegetable sellers shouting can be heard inside the shop. We have been here in Ghaziabad 201001 for a long time, and we have become a part of the daily routine for many. People usually stop by after they finish their vegetable shopping at the mandi to pick up things like salt, oil, or tea. The shop is often crowded with large sacks of grains, and there is not much room to move around when more than a few people are inside. It is just me and one helper running the whole thing. We handle everything from opening the shutters to dealing with the distributors who bring our stock. It is a basic kirana shop without any air conditioning, so the ceiling fans stay on all day long. The area is very busy, and you have to be careful walking through the crowds outside. We like the energy of the market, though. We know exactly which neighbor likes which brand of tea, and those small conversations make the long hours feel shorter. If you are ever visiting the mandir or the mandi, you will find us right there in the middle of it all.
