Mahalaxmi Mart

I started Mahalaxmi Mart here in Indirapuram Sector 83 because there wasn't a place close by that had everything people needed for their kitchens. It is a small shop, but we try to keep the shelves full of the basics like rice, pulses, and spices. Most days, it is just me and one other person making sure the items are priced and stacked right. The mornings are usually the busiest when everyone is heading out or getting breakfast things. Sometimes the delivery trucks are late and we have to tell people to come back in an hour. It happens. We don’t have fancy displays or anything like that. It is just a regular shop where you can get your monthly groceries without a lot of fuss. I’ve lived in this area for a while so I know many of the faces who walk through the door. We talk about the weather or the traffic while I pack their bags. The shop is on a corner, so it gets a bit dusty with the cars passing by, but we clean as much as we can. It’s hard work and the hours are long, usually from early morning until late at night. Sometimes we run out of bread or milk by the evening and that’s just how it goes in a small mart. We don't do home delivery yet because we don't have enough staff for it. People just walk in.
