Shikshak Kalyaan Foundation

We are located at 6/A-305 in Aditya Garden, right in the Vasundhara area. It’s one of those big apartment complexes where everyone is always in a hurry. Our office is on the third floor, so we spend a lot of time waiting for the lift or just taking the stairs if we’re feeling energetic. We started this because we saw a lot of teachers who needed a bit of support or just a place to connect. It’s not a fancy foundation with a big lobby. It’s more like a living room where we’ve added some desks and a lot of bookshelves. We have stacks of old papers and journals everywhere. Usually, there’s a pot of coffee going and someone is complaining about the traffic on the way in. We talk to a lot of retired teachers who have stories to tell, and we try to help them with whatever they need, like pension stuff or just finding a group to talk to. It gets a bit noisy when the kids are playing in the garden downstairs, but we don’t mind. We aren't trying to be a big corporate entity. We just want to be a reliable spot for the teaching community here. Sometimes we stay late to finish up letters, and other times we close early if there’s nothing much doing. It’s a very human way of working and we like that it feels like a small community.
