Sharma Departmental Store

Sharma Departmental Store is right on Tanki Road in Nandgram. The address is C-61. If you live in this part of Ghaziabad, you know the water tank everyone uses as a landmark. That is where we are. It’s a family-run shop. My father started it, and now I spend most of my time here too. We aren't a big chain store or anything. We have wooden shelves that we built years ago. They hold everything from spices to cleaning supplies. Nandgram is a crowded place, and our shop is no different. Especially in the evenings, it gets quite packed with neighbors. We don't have a computerized billing system or anything. We just use a pen and paper mostly. It works for us. The floor is a bit uneven, and the paint is peeling in some corners, but it’s a real place. We talk to everyone who comes in. Sometimes it’s more about the conversation than the selling. We know who likes which brand of tea. We try to keep the inventory fresh. When the monsoon hits, the road outside gets muddy, but people still find their way to C-61. It’s just a regular departmental store for the local folks. We don't do any big advertising. People just know we are here by the tank. It’s been that way for a long time and we like it. We hope to keep serving the community for many more years, just as we are.
