Saraswati Bal Mandir

Saraswati Bal Mandir is located on Modi Nagar Marg. It’s one of those places that you might drive past if you aren’t looking for it, but for us, it’s where we spend most of our waking hours. The school isn't trying to be the most modern building on the block. It’s a practical space where the rooms are filled with desks and chalkboards. We have a routine that we stick to every day. The kids arrive early, usually with their bags looking a bit too heavy for them. We spend the morning doing lessons and then have a break in the middle of the day. Modi Nagar Marg can get a bit dusty when the wind picks up, so we’re always sweeping the front steps. It’s a simple life here. The teachers are mostly local people who know the names of all the parents and even the grandparents. We don’t have a lot of high-tech gadgets. We rely on books and talking to the students. Sometimes the roof leaks a little when the rain is heavy, but we just put a bucket down and keep going. That’s just how it is. It’s a place for learning without all the extra noise you find in some bigger cities. We just focus on the kids and making sure they know their lessons before the final bell rings.
