Sandeep Confectionary Shop

The shutters go up early at Sandeep Confectionary Shop, usually before the sun is even fully over the rooftops in Chawri Bazar. It’s been that way for a long time now. We are tucked away in Gali Charan Das, right there in Saini Market at number 3739. The address says Hauz Khas 3739 Saini Market, Gali Charan Das, Chawri Bazar, which sounds like a lot, but to us, it’s just the place where we spend every single day. The morning air usually feels a bit heavy with the smell of the market waking up and people starting their chores. My hands are usually busy moving jars around or checking what stock came in the day before. People walk past the shop constantly, some nodding a quick hello while others are in a big hurry to get to the main road. The counter we use is a bit old, and the glass has some scratches from years of use, but it does the job fine. We keep the sweets and biscuits where they can be easily seen by anyone walking in. Sometimes the light in the lane isn't great, but everybody around here knows where we are anyway. It is mostly just about keeping the shelves full and talking to the regulars who stop by for a quick minute. We don't have any fancy neon signs or anything like that. Just the name over the door and the goods inside. It’s hard work standing on your feet all day.
