Rahman Departmantal Store

Down on Gadh Delhi Road in the Hapur Simbhawali area, you’ll find Rahman Departmantal Store. It’s a family-run kind of place, and we’ve been part of the landscape here for quite some time. The store is filled with a bit of everything because that’s what a departmental store should be, right? We’ve got stacks of items reaching up toward the ceiling sometimes. It can look a bit messy to an outsider, but we know exactly where every single thing is kept. Mornings are our busiest time when everyone is stopping in to get what they need for the day. We see the same faces every morning, which is the nice part about being in Simbhawali. You get to know the families and the local stories. We don’t use any fancy computer systems for everything; a lot of it is still done the old way with notebooks and pens. It works for us and we haven't seen a reason to change it yet. The road outside can get very dusty, especially when the big buses go past towards Delhi. We spend a lot of time cleaning the shelves. We aren't trying to compete with the big supermarkets in the cities. We just want to keep our doors open and serve the people who live right here on Gadh Delhi Road. It is a simple life, but it keeps us busy from sunrise to sunset. If we don't have something today, we usually get it in by next week.
