Punam Gernal Store

Punam Gernal Store is located right in the heart of the community in Raispur, Ghaziabad. Our shop is probably smaller than some of the others nearby, but we make sure it is always well-stocked with what people need. We keep everything from matches and bath soaps to various spices used for cooking. Each morning begins with the arrival of the bread delivery, and after that, it’s a steady stream of people. Some folks like to stay and chat for a bit while they wait for their change. We have a small ceiling fan that makes a clicking noise as it spins, trying its best to move the warm air around. Usually, it is just one or two of us working here. We don't use any complicated systems to track our sales. Instead, we just keep an eye on the shelves and when something looks low, we go to the wholesaler to get more. The space can get a little cramped when three or four people come in at the same time. On the counter, we keep glass jars filled with candy for the children who stop by after their school finishes. They often take a long time to decide which color they want, but we don't mind the wait. It’s a quiet life, mostly marked by the sounds of the street and the occasional clink of the doorbell. We stay here every day, helping our neighbors get the things they forgot to buy elsewhere.
