Pratap Pattern Industries

Our workshop is at B - 22, Merrut Road. We’re tucked right behind the Shiva Scooter Agency in Arya Nagar. It’s a bit of a hidden spot, but if you look for the agency, you can't miss us. We specialize in making patterns at Pratap Pattern Industries, which is a bit of a dying art if you ask me. It takes a lot of patience and a steady hand. The shop is filled with wood shavings, sand, and various molds. It’s a different kind of noise here compared to the big steel plants. It’s more of the sound of carving and light tapping. We have a few older guys who have been making patterns since they were kids. They don't use computers much; they just use their eyes and their tools. The lighting inside isn't the best, but we've got big windows that let in some sun. Sometimes the patterns are simple, and other times they’re really complex and take weeks to get right. We don't have a website or a fancy logo. Most of our work is for local foundries who need specific shapes for their castings. The office is just a desk in the corner of the shop. It’s always covered in sawdust. We drink a lot of tea while we work and talk about whatever is going on in the neighborhood. It’s a quiet, steady kind of work. We just take one job at a time.
