Jivan Die Makers

Out in Okhla Industrial Estate, Phase 2, you’ll find Jivan Die Makers at 46/10. This is a real industrial area, so it’s all about heavy metal and big machines. Our workshop is usually covered in a thin layer of machine oil and metal shavings, which is just part of the job. We spend our hours cutting and shaping dies, and it’s a lot of loud clanging noises throughout the day. You have to wear sturdy shoes and be careful where you step. It’s not the kind of place where you’d want to wear nice clothes. We have a small area in the back where we keep our coats and have our tea. The heat from the machines can be pretty intense, especially in the middle of summer, but we’ve got some big exhaust fans that help a bit. It’s a lot of precision work, even if the surroundings look a bit rough. We’ve been in Okhla for years, and we know the rhythms of the industrial estate, like when the tea stall gets busy or when the trucks start blocking the road. It’s hard work and our hands are usually stained by the end of the day. We don't really have a front desk or anything, just the main floor where the work happens. People who need dies made know where to find us, tucked away in Phase 2. We just keep our heads down and get the orders done as they come in.
