Pandit Ji General Stores

Our shop is right on the ground floor at Pitampura CA-29/A in Shalimar Bagh. It’s not a very big place, but we manage to fit a lot of stuff on the shelves. We’ve got all the regular groceries and household things that families around here use every day. If you live in this part of Shalimar Bagh, you probably know us or have walked past the shop at some point. It’s usually me or one of the boys behind the counter. We spend most of our time unpacking crates or checking the dates on the milk and bread. It gets really crowded in the mornings when everyone realizes they’ve run out of something for breakfast. We don't have a computer system for everything, we just know where things are and what they cost. The floor gets a bit dusty because of the wind outside, so we’re always sweeping it. It’s a lot of work keeping up with what people want, but we’ve been doing this for long enough that it’s just a routine now. People come in for a kilo of sugar or maybe some tea leaves and stay for a minute to talk about the weather or the local news. We don’t do anything fancy here, just basic supplies for the neighborhood. It’s a plain, honest shop and we like it that way. Most days are long, but seeing the same faces makes it feel like we belong here.
