Om Provision Stores

We run a small provision store located at B 15 in the Overseas Apartment complex in Rohini. It is basically a neighborhood shop where people from the apartments and nearby buildings come to get their daily stuff. We have been here for years, and we know almost everyone’s name who walks through the door. It is not a big supermarket with bright lights and music. It is just shelves packed with lentils, rice, soap, and whatever else people might need in a hurry. We open up early in the morning so people can get milk and bread before they go to work. The shop can get a bit cramped when more than three people are inside at once, but nobody seems to mind the squeeze. We usually have a bit of a chat while we are weighing out things or bagging them up. It feels more like a community spot than just a business. Sometimes kids come in for a single piece of candy, and other times it is a mother buying supplies for the whole week. We keep a notebook for the regulars who pay at the end of the month. It is a simple way of doing things, but it works for us and for them. We do not do any big promotions or anything like that.
