We are over here in E Block in Shastri Nagar and it has been quite a while since Nehru World School first opened the doors. It isn't a very fancy place with glass walls or anything like that but it works for the families around here. Most mornings start with the sound of the big metal gate scraping open. The guard has been here forever and knows almost every kid by their first name which helps when things get busy at drop-off time. Inside the hallways are usually a bit narrow and you can hear the echoes of teachers talking in the classrooms. We spend a lot of time just keeping things moving. Sometimes the desks get a bit wobbly and someone has to come fix them with a screwdriver and some patience. During the lunch break the staff room gets pretty crowded and smells like various kinds of home-cooked food. It’s a loud place especially when the kids are out on the grounds playing. We don't have a giant stadium just a regular space where they run around and get their knees dirty. Most of the teachers live in the nearby blocks so they walk to work. It feels like a small community inside this building. People come and go but the routine stays the same year after year. We just focus on getting the lessons done and making sure everyone gets home safe when the final bell rings in the afternoon.
