Neel Kamal Confectioners is right there at A1 in the Ghanta Ghar Municipal Market. Being in the old market means we are surrounded by a lot of history and a lot of people. Every morning, we start early to get the display cases filled up. The smell of sugar and fried snacks usually fills the air before the rest of the shops even open their shutters. The market is a very busy place, especially in the evenings when everyone is out shopping for their dinner. We have big glass jars filled with different kinds of sweets, and the floor is made of old stone that has worn down over the years from all the feet walking over it. It gets quite crowded inside during the festival seasons, and we have to work fast to keep the line moving. We don't have any fancy marketing or anything; we just rely on the fact that people know we are here at the Ghanta Ghar. Sometimes the bells from the clock tower are so loud we have to pause our conversations for a second. It’s a bit of an old-fashioned way to run a business, but it suits the area perfectly. We have our regular customers who come in every single day for the same thing, and we usually have their order ready before they even get to the counter. It’s just a simple, sweet life in the heart of the city.
