Down in Surya Vihar 3, you’ll find our small shop, MS Batteries. Hapur gets quite hot in the summers and that’s usually when we are busiest. People come in when their inverters stop working or their car won’t start. It’s a lot of heavy lifting, moving those lead-acid blocks around. My hands are usually a bit dirty from the grease and terminal cleaning, but that’s just how the job is. We have stacks of different brands leaning against the walls. The floor is concrete and has some stains from over the years, which is normal for a battery place. Most of our day is spent checking voltages or topping up distilled water for customers who bring their units back. We don't have a big waiting room, just a couple of plastic chairs near the desk. It gets noisy with the traffic outside, but we are used to it by now. I’ve lived in this part of Hapur for a long time, so I know most of the people who stop by. We aren't trying to be the biggest shop in town. We just want to make sure the lights stay on for our neighbors when the power goes out. It’s a steady kind of life, working with my hands and keeping things running. Sometimes the delivery truck is late and we have to tell people to wait a day, but they usually understand.
