Mohan Ji Kirana Store

Our shop Mohan Ji Kirana Store is tucked into Shankar Vihar over by the Lal Kuan area. It is a busy part of Ghaziabad and there is always some noise from the street. I have been stocking the shelves here for a long time, mostly with things people need for their daily meals like lentils and flour. The bags of rice are heavy so I keep them on the bottom racks. Ghaziabad gets very dusty and I have to wipe down the jars of sweets almost every single day. The address is 201001 if anyone is looking for the exact spot. I don't have a fancy computer, just a simple calculator and a pen to keep track of what goes out. The ceiling fan has a bit of a rattle but it helps when the afternoon heat picks up in the narrow lanes of Shankar Vihar. People from the nearby houses come by for a single cigarette or a whole bag of sugar. Sometimes the supply of milk is a bit late in the morning and I have to tell the regulars to come back in an hour. We have these glass jars for the biscuits which look nice when the sun hits them through the doorway. It is a small space and sometimes I feel like I am tripping over the crates of cold drinks. But it is where I spend most of my hours, just talking to neighbors and keeping the shelves full.
