Mahesh General Store

Mahesh General Store is located at 2615, which is right near the railway station in Gandhi Vihar. Being in Hapur, we get a lot of people who are either going to the station or just coming back home. You can hear the whistles of the trains throughout the day, which kind of tells us what time it is without looking at a clock. The shop is a simple building. It’s got a bit of a low ceiling and we have everything stacked up as high as it can go. We sell all sorts of general things that families in Gandhi Vihar need. It gets a bit crowded inside when more than three people come in at the same time. We don't have any fancy displays or bright lights, just some old tube lights that flicker sometimes. During the monsoon, the road near the station gets a bit muddy, so we spend a lot of time mopping the floor to keep the shop clean. It’s just us running the place, so if we are busy in the back, people have to wait a minute at the front. We know most of the people who live nearby by their first names. It's a quiet kind of work, mostly just restocking the shelves and talking to the regulars. We’ve been at 2615 for a good while and the neighborhood hasn't changed much, which is nice.
