Laxmi Dupatta Corner

Down at 84-A in Pocket 6 of Mayur Vihar Phase III, you’ll see our little spot. It’s a small corner of the neighborhood, but it’s home to us. Our shop is mostly just racks and racks of different colored dupattas. We try to keep them organized by color, but by the afternoon, things usually get a bit mixed up. It’s a simple business. People come in with a suit and try to find a match that looks right. We spend a lot of time holding up fabrics to the light to see if the shades are the same. Mayur Vihar Phase III is a busy residential area, so we get a lot of women stopping by on their way home from the market. We don't have a big staff, usually just one or two of us here to help out. The shop isn't anything special to look at from the outside, but we have almost every color you could think of tucked away somewhere. We like being in Pocket 6 because it’s a bit of a community. We know the people who live in the flats around here. Sometimes we just sit outside on a stool when it’s quiet and watch the traffic go by. There’s no corporate office or big brand behind us. It’s just a small corner shop where we’ve been doing this for a while now. It’s a quiet, steady kind of life.
