Krishna Hotel

Being right at the Delhi UP border near Chatta Mill means there is never any quiet. Krishna Hotel has been sitting here while the trucks roll past day and night. The dust from the road gets everywhere so we are always wiping things down with a cloth. It is a bit of a chaotic spot but that is what we are used to. Most of the people who stop by are just passing through or work in the nearby mills. We don't do anything special, just basic rooms and food. My father started this a long time ago when the road was much smaller than it is today. Now it is huge and loud. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to fix the generator, which is a real pain in the heat. We have a few staff members who have lived here for years. They are like family to us. We see all sorts of people coming across the border. Some are tired from long drives and just want a place to sit for an hour. We don't have fancy lights or a big lobby. It is just a building by the road. In the rainy season, the street gets a bit messy, but we manage. You learn to live with the noise of the horns and the big engines. It is just life at the border. We keep the tea hot and the doors open for whoever stops.
