We’ve been here in Hapur for quite some time now. The building is just a normal school building on the side of the road, and you can usually hear the kids before you even see the gate. It gets pretty dusty in the summer months, but we try to keep the fans going in the classrooms. Most of the staff live nearby, so everyone knows each other’s business a bit. We don't have fancy carpets or anything like that. It’s just rows of wooden desks and blackboards that always need a good wipe. During lunch, the smell of parathas fills the hallways. Some of the windows don't close perfectly, but it lets a bit of a breeze in when it’s hot. We spend a lot of time just making sure the kids have their books and are staying quiet enough to hear the teacher. It’s a busy place from morning until the final bell rings. Usually, the parents are waiting right outside the main entrance, chatting with one another while they wait. There’s a bit of a rush at three o’clock. Then it gets quiet until the next morning. We’ve got a small area for playing, nothing too big, but it works for the younger ones. It’s just a regular school where people come to work and kids come to learn their lessons. Most of us have been here for years, and we just keep the place running as it always has been.
