Isert Foundation

Isert Foundation is currently being run out of Gonda, specifically at Vivek Dewakar’s place. It’s a local setup and we don’t have a big commercial office space yet. We find that working this way keeps us closer to the ground and helps us stay focused on what really matters in Gonda. Vivek’s place has enough room for us to keep our computers and all the files we’ve accumulated. It’s a bit of a squeeze when we have extra help coming in, but we usually manage just fine. We spend a lot of time on the phone or out in the local area checking on things. Since we are in a more personal setting, the work doesn't feel like a typical nine-to-five job. It’s more like a constant part of our lives. We don't have any big slogans or marketing talk because we don't need them. People in the area know who we are and what we are trying to do. Sometimes we work late into the evening when there’s a big project, and other times we take a long break to deal with personal chores. It’s a very flexible and human way to operate a foundation. We use simple tools and keep our overheads as low as possible. This way, everything we do goes straight into the work itself. Gonda is our home and we just want to be a useful part of it through the Isert Foundation. There is always someone around to help if a neighbor drops by with a question.
