Kamini Sharee

Our shop, Kamini Sharee, is right by the Ghanta Ghar. Most people use the taxi stand nearby as a landmark to find us. It is a very central spot, so there is always a lot of shouting and horns honking outside. It can be quite chaotic, especially during the festival seasons. Inside, we have rows and rows of sarees tucked into wooden cubbies. We spend a lot of our time unfolding them to show the patterns and then folding them back up perfectly, which takes some practice. The space is a bit old, with some worn spots on the floor where people stand the most. We don't have a website or any of that fancy stuff. We just rely on the fact that we are near the clock tower and people know our name. Sometimes we sit on the stools out front when things are quiet and watch the taxis come and go. It’s a local business through and through. We don't try to act like a big brand. We are just here to show people the sarees we have in stock. If someone wants a specific color, we go hunting through the back stacks to find it. The lighting isn't the best, but it gets the job done. We just keep things moving one day at a time, making sure the shop stays open for whoever needs a new saree. It is a simple way of doing things that works for us.
