Durgesh General Store

Durgesh General Store sits at 86/441 on Dev Nagar Road in the Raipurwa section of Kanpur. We are situated quite close to the PNB Bank, which is a good landmark for anyone trying to find us. It’s a busy little stretch of road, and there is always someone coming or going from the bank who realizes they need a bottle of water or some batteries. The shop itself is pretty straightforward. We keep the basic things that every household needs, like lentils, spices, soaps, and those little packets of shampoo. I spend most of my day sitting on the stool behind the counter, waiting for the next person to walk in. It gets quiet in the afternoons when it’s too hot for anyone to be outside, but then it picks up again once the sun starts to go down. The shelves are mostly made of wood and have seen better days, but they hold the weight of the goods just fine. We don't have a lot of space for extras, so we only stock what we know people will actually buy. Being in the 208003 area for so long, we’ve seen the neighborhood change a bit, but the store stays mostly the same. It’s just a practical place to get your shopping done without having to go too far. We try to be helpful when people are looking for something specific, even if we have to dig through the back.
