Dendyal Kirana Stoor

You can find Dendyal Kirana Stoor over at the Vasundhra Ganga Shopping Complex, shop number 209. It’s a busy little spot, especially in the evenings when everyone is finishing work and looking for dinner stuff. We have sacks of rice and flour sitting on the floor because there isn't enough room on the shelves right now. It’s a bit of a tight squeeze for customers to walk through the narrow aisles, but we have most of the things people need for their kitchens. I spend a lot of my time weighing out pulses and packing them into smaller plastic bags. The scales we use are a bit old but they still work fine for what we do. We get a lot of dust from the complex hallways, so I’m always brushing off the biscuit packets and the spice tins. It’s just me and maybe one other person helping out most days. We don’t have a fancy computer or anything, just a drawer for the money and a notepad to write things down. The fridge for the cold drinks makes a loud humming sound that you stop noticing after you've been here an hour. Sometimes we run out of the popular brands of soap or oil, and people have to wait for the next delivery to come. It’s a regular kirana store where the neighbors come to get their monthly supplies. We know most of the people who walk in by their faces. It’s just a steady, simple business in the middle of Vasundhra.
