Bharat Saree Fashion Mela

You can find us at 1309 in the Subzi Mandi area of Sahibabad. It is a pretty wild place to have a saree shop because of all the vegetable sellers and the shouting that goes on outside starting at five in the morning. By the time we open Bharat Saree Fashion Mela, the ground is usually covered in crushed leaves and the smell of onions is everywhere. Our shop is just a plain room with a lot of racks. We chose this spot because people are already here doing their grocery shopping, so they might as well stop in and look at some clothes. It is a bit dusty because of the trucks driving past the mandi all day. I usually have to sweep the front three or four times a day just to keep it looking okay. We have some old wooden benches for people to sit on while they look at the different colors. We do not do anything fancy with the windows or have bright flashing signs. It is just the name on a board outside. Sometimes it gets so crowded in the mandi that people duck into the shop just to get away from the sun for a minute. We don't mind. It is a busy life here in Sahibabad, and we are just glad to have our little space at 1309.
