You can find us at 447 Kallupura in Ghaziabad. Be Own Light Foundation is run out of Sushil Kumar’s place. He’s the son of Prem Chand, and this has been our home base for quite some time. Ghaziabad is a crowded, busy place, and Kallupura has its own rhythm. We picked the name because it felt right—people should have what they need to stand on their own. We don't have a fancy storefront or a big sign. Most people find us because they know Sushil or they’ve heard about what we do from someone else in the area. It’s a very local thing. We talk to people in the neighborhood about their troubles and try to find a way through. It might be helping a kid stay in school or helping someone find a bit of work. It’s not about big grand gestures; it’s about the small stuff that adds up. The house at 447 is usually a bit chaotic with family and foundation business all mixed together. We like it that way because it keeps us connected to the real world. We aren't sitting in some air-conditioned office away from the noise. We are right in the middle of the dust and the traffic. It’s honest work done by regular people who just want to see their neighbors doing a bit better. That’s really all there is to it.
